Sherkin Island is just about at the southernmost tip of Ireland, only topped by one other island to the west. It has a great vibe. Taking a ferry ten minutes and coming to a place like this, now that's priceless. I couldn't forget it, even if I tried to. We ventured there to see a band called Wiggle. I know what your thinking, not a very impressive band name, but it was a hell of a weekend. And plus, a seriously old school Irish dude on the piano while your pre-drinking, that doesn't hurt the vibe at all.
I find this a suiting shot of the band, because simply, their name is Wiggle... They were the first barefoot (and yes, I mean they all didn't wear shoes) Electro-Dub band I have ever seen. They knew how to rock you, bump the tunes, and get you to beg for more. Exhibit A :
On the right here is Coner, a Cork Lad. They say "boy" after everything, real sound like. I was fortunate enough to befriend him along my travels. He's good craic, as they say here. (craic is Gaelic for 'fun, or 'good times and such) but really though, he's sooooo f-ing hilarious sometimes, I laugh just thinking about it.
Gotta give a shout out to the openers, Triple Drop. They had 1) a drum machine 2) a sweet bassist 3) 'Kasabian-like' vocals 4) guitar work that blew me away. After talking to the lads in the band for a while, it was a trip to think they've been through 8 drummers = profound. They wanted to try me out on drums, but my travels don't include being a drummer, so I had to decline. Although, they are still in touch with mutual friends, so I could always try it out, if I change my mind.
